Quercetin, which is abundant in red apples, boosts exercise endurance
The antioxidant Quercetin boosts exercise endurance and benefits energy production a team of researchers at the University of South Carolina have suggested. Published in the International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism, the report said that the compound, which is abundant in red apples, red onions, berries, cabbages and broccoli, as well as green and black teas, "may be important in relieving fatigue that keeps (people) sedentary."
Lead researcher Dr. J. Mark Davis said: "If confirmed in further investigations, quercetin supplementation may become a beneficial endurance booster for regular exercisers and athletes alike."
